Moving FORWARD in History

The presidential election is less than six months away and you can almost feel a certain anxiousness rising up in America.

In six months this country will vote for change, and hopefully it'll be positive change -- the right change.

The basis of these votes will derive from how well informed the public is on the issues. Knowledge is key to understanding the political arena, and where we as individuals fit into the political spectrum.

We all have a part to play in this microcosm of American history -- a history that continues to rewrite itself as long as we're willing to do the work of filling in the pages. If we vote for a progressive agenda we'll rewrite history again, but if we vote for the status quo the pages will remain blank, unchanged, and unhinged from reality as we know it.

In the game of politics one must be able to decipher truth from lies, fact from fiction, real from fake. But how? How can a person differentiate one from the other?

Third party interpretations aren't enough, we must investigate facts on our own. The political process gives a candid view into the backgrounds of both candidates by use of media, social networks, and volunteers, all working together to push the message of these candidates forward. But we also have books, magazines, and newspapers which bares past history that some have yet to discover.

In 2012, making your entrance into the political world at this moment can be confusing. You may not understand why one candidate would be better than the other, especially if you're not able to tell fact from fiction.

But that's why American history is so fascinating, because no matter what your born year, when you become older and wiser history will always be here just waiting for you to explore it.

It may sound cliche, but knowledge is power. The more you know, the more your mind opens up; almost like a hidden third eye that was sleep for so long until you decided to use it.

Through awareness something clicks in your head and the dots begin to slowly connect like a puzzle. When this happens there's usually a loud "Oh" factor that spews out of your mouth, almost like a light bulb turned on inside your mind. And after all that it becomes urgently obvious why the politics of today are the way they are, and a fire is lit within you giving your existence new purpose to the political process.

So I say all this not to bore you, and not to preach to you, but to shake up the fire already inside you by connecting the dots of history which will ignite you.

Let's move FORWARD in American history, shall we?
