If Lawmakers Are Purposely Erroneous Shouldn't This Be Illegal?

Good journalism isn't considered good unless there are accurate facts to back it up, right? If research isn't done before an article is written, it can come across as invalid.

The idea of receiving fictitious information is unsettling for sure, but what's even more unsettling is that there are people who purposely fabricate stories and get away with it.

Do untruthful individuals distort information because it's fun, or is it done as a personal agenda in hopes of gaining something? But what?

These thoughts were running through my mind on a constant basis because I can't understand how certain lawmakers (people that we send to The White House to work for us the American people and who are paid with our taxpayer dollars), can blatantly look us in the face and tell bold face lies.

Is lying to the American people apart of a contract that stipulates when hired by the government, the person must in fact promise to lie to their constituents? If promising to lie isn't apart of the contract, why do it? And when one lies, even to the point where it's an obvious lie, why then can we not do something about it?

1) Case and point: Republican Rep. Darrell Issa (CA), who initiated a vote to hold U.S. Attorney General Holder in contempt of Congress has repeatedly lied on Mr. Holder, and the Department of Justice as being involved or an accessory to the gun walking operation titled "Fast and Furious"

But when Mr. Issa was asked on 'Fox and Friends' if he had any evidence of his claim being true he said no. He said NO! So if Mr. Issa doesn't have any evidence that Mr. Holder and the DOJ, were criminally involved in this operation why is he trying to hold Mr. Holder in contempt? (See video below of Rep. Darrell Issa admitting on 'Fox and Friends' to having no evidence).

2) Case and point 2: House Speaker John Boehner stated that invoking executive privilege by the Obama administration, is an admission that The White House was involved in a cover up that mislead Congress; but this is completely false!

Eric Holder and the DOJ have repeatedly stated that they had nothing to do with this operation, and Holder reclaimed his innocence by refusing to resign and even suggested that further investigations be conducted to figure out why these misguided tactics were carried out in the first place, but republicans have no interest in investigating back into the Bush administration where the entire operation began. Gee, I wonder why? (See video below of John Boehner making his statements).

3) Case and point 3: Republicans are fiercely trying to invoke voter id laws in certain states, and some have already successfully done so. (click here to see states already affected by voter id laws).

U.S. Attorney General Holder once again working for the good of the American people, sent letters to these states encouraging them to dismiss their restrictive law simply because it's immoral. Americans should have the right to vote without states working against them to suppress it.

Republicans stated that due to voter fraud the voter id laws put in place, is strictly beneficial to the American people. However, Republican Pennsylvania House Speaker Mike Turzai was recorded on June 23, 2012, in a private meeting stating that the voter id laws were in fact put in place to help Mitt Romney win the presidential election. (See video below of Mike Turzai admitting to stealing votes).

4) Case and point 4: Republicans in The House and Congress constantly tell the American people that their main concern is creating jobs. Jobs, jobs, jobs, has been their mantra for months but if creating jobs was their number one concern, why haven't they proposed any new job bills? Or why did they not work in bi-partisanship with Obama, to pass the rest of his jobs bill that would immediately put 4 million people back to work? We're still waiting...

I guess a jobs bill to the republicans is taking away women's reproductive rights, cutting food stamps for millions of American families that need it, putting an end to medicare, medicaid, and social security, and even vowing to repeal Obamacare which was upheld by the Supreme Court yesterday as constitutional under the law.

Is this what republicans consider to be job creation? If they were to ever garner enough votes to win The White House, you have a clear indication of what their agenda would entail and it isn't creating jobs.

5) Case and point 5: Then there's the current Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney, who for some reason seems allergic to the truth and so much so, that he even told Republican Governor Rick Scott of Florida to stop boasting about the state's unemployment being so low and businesses doing extremely well. After all, what would Mitt Romney have to run on if the country is bouncing back under President Obama?

I've watched Mitt Romney in various interviews and town hall meetings and he constantly distorts the presidents successful record by saying what he isn't doing right, but then himself never offers to say what HE WILL DO as a result.

Is it illegal for a presidential candidate to purposely lie to the American people, especially when he's trying to become a leader of the free world? Or is this just politics? If he lies like this now you can only imagine what he'll lie about when he gets into office!

In conclusion: I don't feel it's fair for politicians to lie and get away with it. Lying is the reason why Americans can't tell truth from fiction. There are so many people in this country that believe different things for different reasons, which is why it's imperative for us to do research on all candidates running for office. Don't always rely on third party information.

To all racists out there who will vote against their own self-interest because they deem a person to not be the right skin color; if you're currently on medicare, medicaid, social security, disability, welfare, or unemployment, guess what?! Voting for Mitt Romney will guarantee that all these programs previously named will disappear. But voting for President Obama, will guarantee that these programs remain intact forever.

A quote by our 16th President Abraham Lincoln stayed with me,

"I have two great enemies, the southern army in front of me and the financial institutions, in the rear. Of the two, the one in the rear is the greatest enemy..... I see in the future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country.

As a result of the war, corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed. I feel at this moment more anxiety for the safety of my country than ever before, even in the midst of the war."

("And the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed.")

This means working on the prejudices of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and class, all of which Americans are known for judging one another for.

The message couldn't be more clear; if we choose to stay divisive and fight one another over social issues than it distracts us from the real issues at hand like jobs, healthcare, human rights, civil rights etc. But if we all join together in brotherhood and sisterhood no matter where we come from or what we look like, we stand a chance to not only win this upcoming presidential election but we also aim to attain prosperity and love, while living harmoniously in a country that we built together.
