Georgia Tavern Sells Racist T-shirts
May 13, 2008 - in Cobb County, Marietta GA, at a tavern titled 'Mulligans,' the ultra-conservative owner decided to sell t-shirts displaying a picture of a monkey holding a banana, with words underneath that read, Obama in '08.
The Southern Christian Leadership Conference, the Nation of Islam, and residents of Cobb county were just a few among others that protested outside the restaurant.
The owner stated he thought "the monkey was cute" and "reminded him of Obama."
"Look at the hairline and the ears, he looks just like Curious George", smirked the tavern owner.
Another disturbing part to this story is that the t-shirts actually sold out, which sends a clear message that racism is alive and well in Cobb County, Georgia.
