Michelle Obama Keeps It Real

Before Mrs. Obama's big speech tonight at the Democratic National Convention, she took some time to sit and chat with ABC, speaking on the many hats she wears as well as her husbands great achievements.

The media brands Mrs. O, as the not-so-traditional political wife. Michelle simply describes herself as a girl who grew up on the South side of Chicago, and who's married to a man who might become the next president of the United States of America. Of course to us looking from the outside in, it would seem as if Mrs. Obama's life is anything except ordinary.

When asked about her childhood upbringing and the values instilled in her, Michelle and her brother both stated that their mother Marian Robinson, raised them to never believe they were inferior and let them know they weren't superior over anyone. Marian Robinson always gave her children a sense of self-assurance. These are the same values that Michelle Obama, instills within her own children.

Michelle and Barack both gave up big lawyer salaries to serve within their communities, commenting that their passion for helping people was greater than big dollar signs. After Mrs. O, had her girls they immediately became her true passion and main priority.

"Let me tell you something, for the first time in my adult lifetime I'm really proud of my country."

The media attacked Michelle Obama for making this comment, and she was also attacked by the infamous "fist bump" that she and her husband shared before one of his speeches; it was ridiculed by Republicans as a terrorist threat.

The First Lady in waiting cleared up the attacks by stating, that the young adults within the Obama camp used the same fist bump gesture and that it was a young hip thing.

And when Mrs. O, made an appearance on the day time talk show 'The View', she made light of the situation by asking all the co-hosts to greet her properly using the controversial fist bump.

Co-host Elisabeth Hasselback who touts her horn as a  strong John McCain supporter, previously commented that the Obama's fist bump was "distracting" and "uncalled for," yet she jumped at the chance to fist bump with the soon-to-be first lady. I wonder if Elisabeth thought her fist bump gesture was "distracting" and "uncalled for" to her viewers?

Michelle Obama stated that in order to "survive attacks" one must have "thick skin." It was one of the values her parent's taught her.

In Michelle's words, "My mother would say if somebody calls you a dog, are you going to get on all four's and start barking like one, or are you going to pay them no mind and continue doing what you were originally doing?"

Mrs. Obama claims she sticks by this motto while using her American morals and values, to regulate her family's life as well as those she may come in contact with.

The former Harvard Law School graduate summed herself up by saying, "I have a loud mouth, I tease my husband, he is incredibly smart and very capable of dealing with a strong woman, which is one of the reasons why he can be president, he can deal with me," she laughs.
