Breaking Down McCain

Do you ever watch Senator John McCain (seen-r) speak at an event and when it's over, you turn the channel feeling like you didn't learn anything new from him?

Seriously, and this isn't because my vote belongs to Obama, but because I truly do listen to McCain's speeches as a way of getting to know him better and to hear his views on key issues; but I'm left constantly disappointed.

I bare no biased opinions because I've never been into politics before; until senator Obama came on the scene that is. And my sudden passion for politics made me want to examine senator McCain closer as well.

Politics seemed boring to me because I could never understand the "political rhetoric" of the Bush administration. It always seemed so "coded" in nature, but I actually understand Obama and it made me pay attention; which gave way to comparing and contrasting both candidates.

For example: in just watching John McCain I noticed during Q&A's with an audience and/or media, he never quite answers the questions. He dances around the subject and sometimes completely veer off course into another topic, as if he didn't remember what the original question was.

If John McCain can not answer political questions, why is he running for president? And if he won the presidency who would be running the country?

Only asking because a president should be well-versed on at least the fundamentals of what it takes to run a country, and McCain openly admitted that he didn't know a thing about the economy, and that he hasn't a clue as to how to navigate when on the Internet, but his "wife helps him" as he explained.

Wow. A government official in the 21st century doesn't know how to navigate on the Internet; the main technology running fortune 500 companies at present?

Then how does one plan to run the country; the use of morse code? My grandmother doesn't comprehend how to use the Internet as well, but my grandmother isn't running for the highest office in the land either!

Senator McCain claims he's better at dealing with the war in Iraq, but his campaign advisor had to correct him 2x regarding the Sunnis and Shiite extremist groups -- all during a live television broadcast.

Another touchy subject talked about was the Iraq war, where McCain openly admitted at a town hall gathering that our troops are in Iraq for the purpose of oil stating, "It doesn't matter how long our troops are in Iraq, what matters is that we stay until the job is done."

The Arizona senator doesn't give you the feeling that he wants to change America for the better, well, maybe better for the wealthy. But the aura given off by John McCain makes it appear as if he's just going along on a "campaign joy ride", and if he were to win another person would be calling the shots in Washington? He just doesn't appear to be able to make-up his mind for himself.
