D.L. Hughley's CNN Show Abruptly Cancelled after Nazi Comment

Comedian/actor turned talk show host D.L. Hughley received a slap in the face after his interview with Republican Chairman, Michael Steele.

Hughley's new show Breaking the News which airs on CNN, wouldn't see a full month of existence after D.L. commented to Steele that "The RNC (Republican National Convention) looked like Nazi Germany."

Hughley also commented that there isn't much diversity within the commentator circle; a few days went by and CNN Network announced this in a statement:

"D.L. approached CNN about being permanently based in Los Angeles, where his family lives. To accommodate this, we agreed upon a new role where he will be a contributor for the network based in Los Angeles. We are eager to continue our relationship with D.L., who is a tremendous talent and a valued colleague."

Did the higher authorities call for D.L.'s dismissal due to his comments? If so, it would seem that the network wasted no time moving quickly to expunge of him. So Conservative radio disc jockey Rush Limbaugh, can get away with a death threat on a sitting US Senator but D.L. Hughley couldn't give his opinion on a political party during a discussion?

Does the Nazi Germany topic make certain people sensitive or nervous? Or is it that there is truth in what Hughley speaks, which of course we all know that truth can hurt. But I guess CNN can't have millions of people searching the world wide web on the history of Nazi Germany and its American ties, right? To touchy?

Personally, I enjoyed the different perspective that Hughley's show represented and during the first few shows, I didn't feel that D.L. was being himself -- mainly because his shows are usually explicit yet spoken from the heart and it was clear that he was holding himself back. But when you think about Hughley's comments which had him released from CNN, he does make a valid point
