Floridians Sleep on Sidewalks Due to Lost Housing

Caught on camera were the faces of disappointed and outraged Floridians.

Some were crying, some were screaming for a bailout, and others tried to hide from the cameras as they were to embarrassed to publicly reveal their identity. This horrific image stays engraved within my memory.

Over two thousand people (predominately African American) were sleeping in the freezing cold outside on chairs and cots in front of the Florida Public Housing Authority, waiting to receive answers regarding their lost housing.

The next day the majority of those two thousand residents left with unanswered questions. I watched on TV as people slowly walked away with blankets and chairs in hand, not in a rush to be anywhere in particular -- probably not even knowing where their next destination would be.

I always knew it could get this bad but I didn't think it would actually get this bad. When you see images like this it has to humble you because it could be anyone in this situation, for whatever reason. Moreover, this lost housing situation makes me question why GOP members were so harsh to criticize their republican colleague Governor Crist of Florida, who decided to stand by President Obama and accept the stimulus funds? Governor Crist, seems to understand that people are bigger than politics

Republicans ganged up on Crist as if he were a traitor to the team.

Come on guys, this isn't high school where kids have special cliques while isolating those that don't fit into their judgmental criteria. This is about helping the American people in order to help the economy grow again.

The majority of Americans are on the same page as President Obama, and the GOP must understand that there must be unity around a common purpose. There's a huge difference between disagreeing for valid reasons and disagreeing because a group feels that one should remain loyal to ones clique.
