Smoke Signals During The White House Debt Talk

Today Republican House Speaker John Boehner, abruptly quit negotiations for the US debt talk.

President Obama and the House Speaker couldn't seem to agree on a plethora of issues, and when the subject switched to a push for increasing tax revenues on wealthy corporations - something Republicans angrily oppose, a flame was lit under John Boehner who dismissed himself from all talks, but later gave this statement:

"A deal was never reached, and was never really close. In the end, we couldn't connect. Not because of different personalities, but because of different visions for our country," Boehner said in his letter to The House.

Boehner insisted in his letter that he walked away because President Obama, insisted on increasing tax revenue collected from wealthy corporations.

"I have decided to end discussions with The White House and begin conversations with the leaders of the Senate in an effort to find a path forward," Boehner wrote.

Why is it okay for our government to just give up on us? Why wouldn't legislators want to help in any way that they could, in order to prevent a catastrophic hit to our global economy?

What if the President got angry over negotiation talks and got up and walked away? What would everyone have to say about his behavior?

Boehner's behavior obviously wasn't acceptable to President Obama, who publicly condemned his decision to give up on the American People as he stated,

"I cannot believe that Congress would end up being that irresponsible that they would not send a package that avoids a self-inflicted wound to the economy at a time when things are so difficult," President Obama declared.

House Majority Leader Harry Reid stressed that "we must avert a default at all costs" and condemned republicans for an "ideological opposition to ending taxpayer-funded giveaways for millionaires, corporate jet owners, and oil companies."

Will the GOP get the hint?
