Post-Election Release

Two days from today it will officially have been a month since Americans relished in a victory that was hard fought for; the re-election of President Obama!

When the state of Ohio lit up blue a second time for President Obama, the feeling was so intense and exerted so much of my energy -- that all I could do was scream while falling back on the couch in a dazed, head high cloud of exhaustion as my body completely collasped.

I could now take a break from endless news coverage, research and writing. My rants about how unfair the republicans are to try and steal the election would now subside. And my heart palpitations will cease because I can breathe unnervingly about the direction of our country; as my previous plans to flee the nation over a Mitt Romney win, are finally a thing of the past since he wasn't the chosen one.

Election stress is so serious because our livelihood is so serious, and knowing that a select few people hold certain powers in government to either make or break our livelihood -- is cause enough too pay attention.

Whether you detest politics or vaguely pay attention; advocating for your future and for your children's future should always take precedence over entertainment.

But on November 6, 2012, the American people definitely showed that we can balance both Politics Nation with Reverend Al Sharpton (who I affectionately call Revy Rev), and Keeping up with the Kardashians all at the same time!

Going into hiatus after the election didn't surprise me that when I came back, it was to the tune of: General Petraeus' extramarital affair and Benghazi trial; Congressman Paul Ryan alluding that President Obama won re-election due to many "urban" votes; Republican Minority Leader Mitch McConnell still insisting on keeping the "Bush tax cuts" for the wealthiest Americans; Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is stepping down; most republicans still aren't comprehending why Mitt Romney lost the election; racism is at an all time high; 40 states signed petitions to secede from America; and EV-ER-Y-BODY can't seem to stop talking about the infamous "fiscal cliff" as it gains more popularity the closer it gets to January!

Oy vey! What's next?!

Well at least the most important job is done. President Obama is still in the Oval office where he should rightfully be, and now it's time to implement our progressive agenda.

We've dodged the republicans bullying tactics on women, veterans, the elderly, students, government workers, the LGBT community, minorities, poor people, the middle class, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and The Affordable Care Act.

Hopefully, both parties can move forward in a bi-partisan manner while remembering to compromise, show empathy when needed, and most importantly do the work that the American people sent you to office too do.

But honestly, why do I keep getting the feeling that the games are just beginning?
